Good evening Band Families,
This evening the officers had a meeting to discuss the upcoming season. We asked that in addition to the show, title “Chasing Sunlight”, we have another theme, flexibility. The staff has done a wonderful job reorganizing this summer. Due to the middle school construction we are asking each band family to be patient as there are details still being worked out for the season; we are waiting on answers from the district. Please remember that we pride ourselves on communication – we ask that you read emails, Remind messages, and ask your student for information that is also given to them.
Please take a moment to review the following information:
Uniforms
We will not have the new uniforms for the start of the season; we will be wearing summer uniforms.
Summer uniforms will be khaki shorts and the blue “Mars Band” t-shirts which will be distributed next Tuesday
Help Needed
Lisa needs a few volunteers to help sort through the old uniforms for seniors to wear for pictures. Please email her if you can help this Thursday at 6 PM in the band room: [email protected]
Pictures
In order to have a photo in the football program we will be taking a group photo next Tuesday.
Students need to bring khaki shorts to practice; Mars Band shirts will be given out for the photo. Students will only receive one shirt – they will need this in the upcoming weeks for the Kennywood Parade and the first few football games.
Seniors – will have their photo taken in a band uniform for the banners at the stadium.
We will still have the regular picture day as scheduled on August 16
Mandatory Parent Meeting
Each band student must have a parent attend one mandatory meeting that is scheduled for August. Information will be presented in regards to the new uniforms, fundraising, student expectations, and the spring trip to Disney.
We are offering three different meetings dates, please plan to attend one:
August 13 @ 7:30 PM
August 19 @ 7:30 PM
August 28 @ 7:00 PM
Location for the meetings will be announced.
Candy Grams
Since the competitions changed slightly from the original candy gram order that was sent out in May, I have included an updated order form. Orders and money are due August 14.
