Weekly Update: 10/30-11/4

This is a copy of a group email sent by Dave Soose.

Good evening everyone! First and foremost, congratulations to the students on a wonderfual Championship Saturday! They had a fantastic weekend, and capped it off with their best performance of the season. The staff and I could not be prouder of their accomplishments. Seeing their reactions after the performance was the only reward I needed. No number would have changed how I felt about them or their efforts that night. I wanted to thank the students, staff, and families for a wonderful weekend and a great season. No season is ever perfect, and we don’t always agree with one another, but as numerous seniors reminded me in their speeches yesterday, that is epitome of family. And this program is truly that: a large(and at times chaotic) family. Thank you all once again.

Now, to this weeks schedule:

  1. Football Game-Although we were right on the cusp of reaching a first round bye for the playoffs, we did not get that. So our first playoff game will be this Friday, November 3rd at Home. We will be doing a different haltime performance for all football games moving forward. I feel that the students truly left it all out on the field this Saturday with their show, and I felt it best to let that performance be their last one of that show. With that being said, our report time on Friday will be a little later. Report time will be 6:00pm on Friday night at the MAC. Students need to arrive in FULL UNIFORM though. At the conclusion of the game, we will go back to the high school and unload equipment from this past Saturday, since we did not unload last night. We need everyone in attendance to help cheer on the Planets to a victroy past Chartiers Valley!!!
  2. Mars Indoor Percussion Parent Meeting-Mars Indoor Percussion will hold their interest meeting on Wednesday November 1st at 6pm in the Mars HS LGI. Attached is the season calendar, and the calendar has since been uploaded to the Google Calendar at www.marsband.com. If you have any questions, please email Dave Soose at [email protected]. Students are welcome to attend if they would like, but overall, the meeting is more informational for parents. Our workshops will begin next week.
  3. Winterguard-The Winterguard Interest Meeting will be held Wednesday, November 1st from 6:30-7 at the Centennial Gym. Someone will be by the gym doors to let members and families in from 6:15-6:30. Immediately following the meeting, there will be an open gym from 7-8 for new and returning members to try things out. Attached is the tentative schedule for the 2023-2024 season. Please reach out to director Courtney Kovick ([email protected]) with any questions. Note: Unfortunately, the spring musical is scheduled for the same weekend as our WGI regional. Therefore, members will be unable to participate in both activities this year.
  4. Marching Band Uniform Collection-Once the football teams playoff run has officially concluded. We will reach out to everyone regarding marching band uniform collection.

If there are any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Have a great week, and some much deserved time off!
