Weekly Update (Band Camp Edition)

Good afternoon everyone, and welcome to the start of band camp! It’s hard to believe that our summer rehearsals have come to an end, and that we are at the beginning of our band camp journey, These two weeks will be fun, educuational, tiring, but most importantly, a great way to build community and friendships. I am excited, and I hope that the students are as well. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. 

  1. Band Camp-Band camp is from 1pm-9pm Monday through Friday for the next two weeks. All days will be at the high school with the exception of Wednesday August 9th when we will be at the stadium. For camp days, students should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to rehearsal to ensure the are prepared to begin at 1pm. Students should be done with the evenings announcements by no later than 9:10. For band camp, all students should have the following items with them.
    1. Music/Warmups in a binder with sheet protectors
    2. Pencil/Highlighter
    3. Instrument
    4. Suncreeen
    5. Water!!!!!!
    6. Tennis shoes
    7. Athletic clothing
    8. Hat/sunglasses
    9. Packed dinner
    10. Students can also fee free to bring extra drinks(water/sports drinks only), a change of socks, deodorant, and a jacket in case it rains
  2. Paperwork/Payments-All paperwork and booster payments are due. Students must bring these items to band camp with them. 
  3. District Registration/Payment-All students must be registered to FamilyID and must have paid their district fee(aside from free and reduced lunch) by tomorrows start to band camp. Students who are not registered and paid are not able to participate in band until they are complete. 
  4. Picture Day-Picture Day is scheduled for Friday August 11th. Photos will occur roughly between 10-11am. Parents, you should have received an email regarding your students link to access photos when they become available. If you have not received anything, please let me know. 
  5. Shoe Fitting-Shoe fitting is on Monday August 7th at 5:30pm. Marching Band shoes are $46 and colorguard shoes are $44. All checks can be made out to Mars Band Boosters. 
  6. Drum Corps Show-If you signed up/paid to attend the drum corps show on Sunday August 6th. We will meet in the auditorium parking lot at 4:45. The bus will be leaving promptly at 5:00pm. Students are welcome to bring money for concessions/souvenirs if they would like. 
  7. Prop Transportation-As some of you know, each year, we have props that help make our show come to life. This year, some of our props are rather large to say the least. At this current moment, we are looking into ways to help transport our props to all performance this year, as they will not fit on our truck with all of our instrumental equipment. If you know of any resources available to help us accomplish this task, please let me know.
  8. Meet the Planets-Meet the Planets is scheduled for Sunday August 20th. It is our first public performance of the season, and it will occur in the evening(roughly 5pm). Please ensure all students looking at their schedules to ensure full participation of this event, as it is on a day in which we usually do not have events.
