Weekly Update: 10/3-10/8

Hello everyone! I hope that you are all enjoying a nice fall Sunday. I just wanted to say that the students did fantastic yesterday, and we are very proud of their accomplishments. It is crazy to think that there are only three weeks left in the season. This week is Homecoming for Mars! Please see our weekly information. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.

  1. Tuesday-Full Ensemble rehearsal @MHS from 6pm-9pm
  2. Wednesday-Full Ensemble rehearsal @MHS from 6pm-9pm. If we have our truck back by then, we will be loading at the conclusion of this rehearsal. If we do not, more communication will follow in regards what will be performed at the football game on Friday evening.
  3. Friday-Homecoming! First is the Homecoming Parade. Students should report to the grass lot behind Mars Bank in Mars in full uniform at 4:30pm. We will warmup in the grass lot at that point. The parade begins at 5:00pm and will conclude roughly 15-20 minutes afterwards. The parade ends at the Mars Post Office. However, as a band, we will walk back to the grass lot behind Mars Bank where students can be picked up and taken to the Middle School for the football game. If your student needs a ride to the middle school, there will be one bus providing us a shuttle back to the middle school. Once students arrive at the middle school after the parade, the boosters will be proving the students a meal prior to the game. If we have our truck and are able to transport all of our equipment to the football game, then we will plan on performing our show at the conclusion of the game. If we are not able to have all of our equipment, we will not perform after the game. More information on that to follow. Regardless, whatever equipment we have that evening will need unloaded at the end of the evening.
  4. Video/Audio Copyright-As we move into the last part of our season, I wanted to throw out some information regarding our performances. One of the songs we are performing this year(Burn from Hamilton by Lin Manuel Miranda), approved us to utilize his song for our performance. However, one of the conditions is that we do not have audio/video recording rights. Unfortunately, this means that we cannot go public with that portion of our performance. I am alright if you record the performance, so long as it stays in house and is not published publicly. If you do decide to post a performance publicly, the 2nd song we perform must have the audio removed. If not, we could be liable for severe financial fines. Please keep this in mind moving forward as we proceed for the rest of the season.
  5. Tentative Disney Meeing Date-For all families attending Disney, we have a tentative meeting date of October 17th at 6:00pm in the HS LGI. We believe that this date will work, however, with the school districts technology being down the past week, we cannot officially confirm the facility. However, please keep this date in mind moving forward. This meeting will be mandatory for all students, parents of students
  6. Disney Rehearsal Dates-We are planning on having 3 Disney rehearsal dates. These rehearsals will occur from 6pm-8pm at location TBD. The dates are as follows: October 25, November 1st, and November 2nd. All students attending Disney must be in attendance for all 3 rehearsals.
  7. Chaperones/Volunteers-We are still in desperate need of chaperones for football games/competitions as well as volunteers to assist with concessions at home football games. Please sign up and assist with anything that you can. We have had several parents work multiple shifts at the concession stands during our home games so far this year, and we now need new volunteers. Its a great way to help with your child’s activity.
  8. Leaving the High School-If you do not already know, no one is permitted to make a left turn out of the high school from the tennis court exit. In the past, there was a small sign that allowed you to make a left hand turn out of the high school at certain points in the day. However, that signed has been covered up/removed, and it is not allowed anymore. After Friday night’s football game, someone got pulled over trying to make a left out of the high school by the tennis courts. I just wanted to make everyone aware of this change.

Have a great week!

-Mr. Soose
