Summer updates and sign-ups

Hello Band Families,

I hope that you and your family enjoyed this beautiful weekend. As we continue to work through some transitions we ask for your patience and support. We are at the point in the year were we are now asking all band families to help the students have a great season.

The following contains A LOT OF INFORMATION. Below you will find all the sign ups for fall and information about the 4th of July Parade and Disney.

To volunteer please sign up with the link provided and contact me with any questions.

Please understand that we work with other Booster organizations and must follow certain District Policies. If you do not sign up for a spot and show up to work or chaperone you will not be able to help. It is not that we are turning away help, but we have a certain number of spots for each event. I thank you for your understanding and my advice is to sign up ASAP. This policy will be followed this year.

Concession Stand: https://signup.com/go/nXbFXTO

  • Each band family is to sign up for at least one game to work by August 1. If you do not sign up and spots are available, you will be assigned an evening to work..
  • When you arrive you will report to the middle school between 6:00-6:15. You will be given a lanyard that will allow you to enter the gates near the Three Degree Road entrance. This lanyard will allow you to enter with paying for a ticket. You will then report to the home concession stand for your assignment.
  • Volunteers for this only need to have their licence scanned.
  • Due to the middle school construction a specific location for picking up your lanyard will be provided at a future date.

Home Game – Pretzel Pick Up: https://signup.com/go/TFfRqSB
We need one volunteer for each home game to pick up the pretzels that we sell at the concession stand. Please see the sign up for details.

Competition Meals: https://signup.com/go/qckHpOH

  • Each competition day we will feed the students prior to departing for the competition. For those that sign up for the water and cookies, you may drop them off at the High School Cafeteria at noon. If the door is locked please leave things by the entrance to the outside cafeteria doors. It is not an error that each meal we are asking one person to bring 120 bottles of water for the meal.
  • Parents that sign up to set up, serve, and clean up, a report time will be sent out the week of the competition.
  • Volunteers for this only need to have their licence scanned.

Chaperones: https://signup.com/go/JyyuXXF
Parents are needed to chaperone football games and competitions. To volunteer to be a chaperone you must complete all district requirements, including having your license scanned, volunteer application, and be board approved. You will not be able to chaperone if these are not complete.
Please DO NOT just show up to chaperone an event without being on the sign up. If spots are full you will not be able to chaperone that event.
If you are a chaperone you will be given an assignment upon arrival.
Thank you for your understanding!

Away Football Game Pretzels: https://signup.com/go/DrsJtNN
The Friday away games are longs days for the students. In addition to their regular snack they will also get a soft pretzel. We need one parent for each away game to pick up pretzels from the Philly Pretzel Factory on Rt. 228. You would be responsible to drive them to the away game and delivery them to where the band is located.
The pretzels will already be paid for, you will just pick up and deliver.
We will not be doing this for the Penn Hills game

Disney Trip
We are in the process of planning for the trip to Disney. The tentative dates are April 14-18. More details will be made available during band camp. I have attached the medical form that your child’s PCP will need to complete for ANY medication (this includes any over-the-counter medication) that may need to be administered on the trip. I know that this may seem a bit early, but many families make appointments during the summer months. If you get this form completed please do NOT turn it in until we have a medication drop off night.

4th of July Parade
We regret to say that the band will not perform in this year’s parade. With the late hire of Dave, he and the other staff already had plans for that date. I am planning to contact the district tomorrow to see if any district employee would be able to attend the parade – we can’t have the students participate without a district employee present.

Please contact me with any questions.

Have a great week-
Ruth
